Al-Marsad Newspaper: Former Hajj Minister Mahmoud bin Muhammad Safar Al-Sufyani died today at the age of 82.
A number of media professionals and public figures have mourned Dr Mahmoud Safar.
Interestingly, Dr. Mahmoud Safar was born in Makkah Al-Mukarramah on 27 October 1940 and received his general education in the Kingdom. He studied elementary, middle and high school at Al-Falah School in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Cairo University School of Engineering in the year 1964, then he received his master’s degree in soil mechanics and foundation engineering in geotechnical engineering from North Carolina State University in 1972 and a Diploma of Senior Management from Stanford University in California in 1980.
The deceased worked as a teaching assistant in the College of Engineering at King Saud University from 1964 to 1965. He also taught at the University of North Carolina and was appointed assistant professor of “Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering ” at the Faculty of Engineering at King Saud University.
He also served as a member of the Advisory Council of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council on behalf of the Kingdom and served as a Minister of Hajj.
