Winter Storm Elliot, which caused thousands of canceled flights, heavy snow, windy and cold weather, is wreaking havoc across the United States.
So far, the storm has claimed at least twelve lives.
Both blizzards and flooding have been reported in New York, and now several city residents have called for Mayor Eric Adams, who has “disappeared without a trace.”
The charity Communities for Change, which focuses on the city’s poorest, called the mayor in a Chirping-message, where they ask for help in finding Adams.
– At the same time that New York City is flooded and neighborhoods must be evacuated in freezing temperatures, Eric Adams has disappeared without a trace. Did you put this man? they write.
The organization adds that the mayor was last seen on Thursday when he left the city the day before a “climate disaster”.
The mayor’s press secretary, Fabien Levy, does not want to elaborate on the mayor’s whereabouts.
– The mayor is still in close contact with everyone. He coordinates how the city will handle this, Levy tells the local paper Gotham.
