The Belgian airline notes an overall increase of 28% in its bookings compared to the previous year. Bookings on long-haul flights increased by 31% and those on medium-haul flights by 27%. From Brussels, New York is the intercontinental destination, followed by Dakar and Kinshasa. While Malaga is the most popular European destination, followed by Tenerife and Rome.
Between 24 December and 8 January, nearly 270,000 passengers will travel worldwide with Brussels Airlines. yesterday, Friday 23 December, was the busiest departure day with over 20,000 passengers, closely followed by Monday 26 December.
Brussels airport, for its part, expects a total flow of 824,000 travelers for the duration of these end-of-year holidays. Traffic representing 83% of the number of passengers recorded in the same period of 2019, before the health crisis (988,000 passengers). Particularly popular destinations include Spain, Morocco and Malta, winter sports destinations such as Innsbruck, Salzburg and Kittilä and international destinations such as New York, Dubai and South Africa.
