the husband of Nadia Calvino, Ignacio Manrique de Laradecided to resign from the high post in National Heritage for which he had been appointed by the former Secretary of State for the Economy and companion of the minister, Ana de la Cueva, now in charge of National Heritage.
The resignations come later the scandal that caused the signing for a newly created position as coordinator of Commercial Strategy and Marketing of National Heritage and which entailed a juicy senior management salary, in excess of €80,000.
National Heritage sources told Europa Press that he wrote a resignation letter explaining it he would have decided to opt for other professional offers.
The institution, which claims to have “obtained the best score in the public call”, indicates that Ana de la Cueva informed the Board of Directors of this decision and communicated that following the technical criteria consulted with the State Attorney’s Office, a new resolution in which the second candidate will be appointed to the post with the best score in the selection process. The name will be published on the Heritage website.
The news is known on the same day that transcends the departure of the former director of the Calviño cabinet, Judith Arnal.
Although the signing of Calviño’s husband sparked criticism from the outset, both the government and the minister herself publicly defended the nomination, claiming it was the best of the eight candidates. The institution also defended that the commission that nominated her was made up of two members from the National Heritage, another from the Ministry of Culture, another from the Reina Sofía Museum and another from the Ministry of Labour, i.e. five members in total.
