Petr Gumennik: “It’s hard to call my skating championship, so the fact that I’m second is fine with me” – Figure Skating

Figure skater Pyotr Gumennik said that his free skate performance at the Russian Championship in Krasnoyarsk can hardly be called a champion.

In total, he scored the same points as the winner Evgeny Semenenko, but lost because he received less for the free skate.

“I knew what my gap was. He knew how much Zhenya scored. When I saw the sheet music, my eyesight went down a bit after the show. First, where the tenths, I saw not a six, but an eight. Then I saw the light, I saw the same scores.

As far as I remember, the winner is the one who scores the most in the free skate, so I understood everything instantly. The only thing left to do was accept the result.

Skating wasn’t very successful today. It’s probably difficult to call such a rental a championship, so the fact that I’m second is fine with me. I lacked some confidence in myself, this is the first Russian championship where I could really win. It’s probably hard to do it on the first try.

I hope next time it will be first place. As I like to improve my result gradually, and now I have a backlog of 0 cents, I will have to win.

The scores are really very high, I have never seen people like that live. But I knew Zhenya’s content and knew that with my clean performance they could not score less. The only thought arose: I have no right to be wrong. I have only 5 points left, and it is advisable not to lose it, ”Gumennik said.
