Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia wants to end the war with Ukraine. He also stressed that the battle must be concluded as soon as possible.
This statement was made when the President of the United States (USA), Joe Biden hosted the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the White House on Thursday (12/22/2022). The United States itself has promised continued and unwavering support for Ukraine.
“Our goal is not to spin the wheels of military conflict, but on the contrary, [yaitu] to end this war,” Putin said, quoted by Reuters and AFP, on Saturday (12/24/2022).
“We will try to end this (Russian-Ukrainian war). The sooner the better, of course,” continued the No. 1 person in Russia.
Russia is known to have attacked Ukraine on February 24, 2022. As a result, the West has imposed a variety of sanctions on Russia, including caps on Russian oil prices.
Putin himself has said he will sign a decree early next week setting out Russia’s response. He said he wouldn’t upset the Russian economy.
“I have said many times, the intensification of hostilities leads to unjustified losses,” Putin added.
“All armed conflicts end with […] a kind of negotiation on diplomatic channels. Sooner or later, each conflicting party sits down and makes a deal. The sooner this realization comes to those who are against us, the better. We never gave up,” Putin continued.
So far, there has been no further confirmation from Moscow on the matter. Including whether there will actually be talks that will end in a ceasefire.
