ON THE MAP – Where in your neighborhood will new (semi-)public charging stations be added in the next two years?

Minister Peeters is aiming for 35,000 public or semi-public charging points by 2025. The meter currently stands at around 16,000 charging points. A new call for projects was launched in June. Once again many companies, from supermarket chains to classic petrol stations, have applied for publicly accessible charging infrastructure on their own domain.

In the end, 254 projects were approved, equal to 10,789 additional (semi-)public charging points. They will be installed in the next two years. Flanders is making nearly 10 million euros available for this. “In 2021, we launched a similar call for projects that produced 9,800 charging points. These projects are already in full swing and need to be completed by November 2023 at the latest,” says Minister Peeters.
