Bulgaria has lost a man who made his mark on mountaineering. Mountaineer Volodya Lobodin has died at the age of 93, BNR reported.
On 15 February 1949, he and Alexander Belkovski – Belkata made the first winter ascent of the emblematic north face of Mount Vihren, which became a classic for Bulgarian mountaineering. The ascent was carried out in conditions of a severe storm and a temperature of minus 20 degrees.

Volodya is only 20 years old and has very little experience as a climber. In the 1940s he and his friends enrolled in the first mountaineering course organized in our country.
The pilgrimage will take place on Monday 26 December, at 11:30, in the church of Santa Sofia in the capital.
