Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia wants to end the war with Ukraine. He also stressed that the battle must be concluded as soon as possible.
This comment was made when United States (USA) President Joe Biden hosted Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the White House on Thursday. The United States itself has pledged continued and unwavering US support for Kiev.
“Our goal is not to turn the wheel of military conflict, but on the contrary, to end this war,” he said as published Reuters and AFP extensionquoted on Friday (12/23/2022).
“We will try to put an end to this, and the sooner the better, of course,” Putin said.
Russia has been attacking Ukraine since February 24th. As a result, a variety of sanctions have been imposed on the West, including the latest price caps on Russian oil.
Putin himself has said he will sign a decree early next week setting out Russia’s response. He said he wouldn’t upset the Russian economy.
“I have said many times, the intensification of hostilities leads to unjustified losses,” Putin added.
“All armed conflicts end with… some kind of negotiation through diplomatic channels. Sooner or later, each of the conflicting parties sits down and makes an agreement. The sooner this awareness reaches those who are against us, the better. Up We never gave up on this,” he explained.
There have been no further confirmations from Moscow on the matter. Including whether there will actually be talks that will end in a ceasefire.
