Intel confirms flagship Core i9-13900KS

With the Core 13000 series, Intel has focused on increasing clock frequencies, even with the promise of an upcoming flagship model which will reach 6 GHz “straight out of the box”. Little is known about the model so far, other than the high clock frequencies and the launch early next year. It is now confirmed that this is a “KS” model, in connection with a new overclocking record.

The company was documented in the usual way, also in video format on Intels Youtube Channel. The video not only confirms the overclocking record, but also the Core i9-13900KS processor. On several occasions, the camera captures a window with CPU-Z open, where the processor with suffix KS is seen in the specs.

Since the program detects the processor with both K and KS suffixes, it means that the Core i9-13900KS follows the same pattern as the predecessor i9-12900KS and is a “captive” Core i9-13900K. This means that it is essentially the same processor, whereby the KS-branded variants are selected specimens that are particularly suited to high clock frequencies.

The image shows a core hitting 6.7GHz, but in the context of overclocking. Exactly what clock frequency Intel plans to specify at launch remains to be seen. A date is still missing, but with CES 2023 around the corner, it’s plausible to expect a presentation within the next few weeks.
