In June of this year, it was confirmed that Xbox and Hideo Kojima had joined forces to work on a new project.
This project will be an Xbox exclusive game that promises to use Microsoft’s cloud technology like no other game has ever done before, in an unprecedented and epic concept.
Now, according to VGC, Kojima reveals a little more about the behind-the-scenes production of this new game, explaining that he presented it to a large number of potential partners and that Microsoft was the only one who really understood the concept, while others thought it was “crazy”.
“The project we’re working on with Microsoft is something I’ve been thinking about for five or six years. The project required infrastructure that had never been needed before, so I’ve discussed it with many large companies and given presentations, but they really seemed think I was crazy. In the end, it was Microsoft who showed that they understood and now we are working together on the project, including the technology,” says Kojima.
In the interview, the director also states that he tends to get bored easily. “Part of the reason I’ve been able to make games for 30 years is because new technology replaces old technology so quickly. The technology you use today may not apply tomorrow, and I’m interested in finding ways to incorporate the new.”
Let’s not forget that, during this year’s The Game Awards, Kojima officially announced Death Stranding 2. In any case, we will have to wait for more information on this new project.
