Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed alliance agreement – News from Uzbekistan – Gazeta.uz

Following the Uzbek-Kazakh summit, a ceremony for the signing of bilateral documents was held, informed press service of the head of state.

The presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed historical documents – the Treaty on Allied Relations and the Treaty on the demarcation of the Uzbek-Kazakh state border.

Like noticed Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Treaty of Alliance “satisfies the primary interests of both fraternal peoples and marks a new stage in the history of Uzbek-Kazakh relations. The alliance is the highest and most trusted level of interstate partnership. Thus, we have confirmed that we intend to build a common future”.

“This groundbreaking document opens up new horizons for us and fully reflects the two countries’ mutual desire for further rapprochement,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Speaking about the delimitation of the border, the President stressed that the agreement would serve the cause of peace and security in the region. “Our border has always been and remains the border of friendship and good neighborliness,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“The agreement fully complements the international legal registration of Kazakhstan’s state border at its southern borders,” underlined President of Kazakhstan

In addition, 15 documents were signed at the level of governments, ministries and departments, large enterprises of the two countries, which provide for the expansion of multi-faceted cooperation.

Among them are agreements on the establishment of the Central Asian International Center for Industrial Cooperation, cooperation in the field of environmental protection, cooperation in the field of higher and postgraduate education, as well as a protocol on the introduction changes to the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Conditions for Reciprocal Travel of Citizens of July 7, 2000.

Memorandums were adopted in the field of strategic reforms, development of e-commerce, forestry, public service, “road map” to expand cooperation between the regions of Tashkent and Turkestan, Navoi and Kyzylorda, Jizzakh and Turkestan, as well as agreements on implementation of projects in the fields of energy, chemical industry, transport and logistics.

Commercial contracts and investment agreements worth $8 billion were also signed during the visit.
