Brazil: Pelé’s cancer is progressing, doctors announce

“King” Pelé will spend Christmas in hospital due to “kidney and heart failure”, which requires “more important” care.

LPelé’s cancer is “progressing” and the Brazilian soccer legend requires “more treatment” due to “kidney and heart failure,” the São Paulo hospital where he was being treated announced on Wednesday. “King” Pelé, 82, was admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital on Nov. 29 for a reevaluation of his chemotherapy treatment following the detection of colon cancer in Sept. 2021.

“Pelé has disease progression and requires more extensive care to treat renal and heart failure,” the doctors explain in their health bulletin.
