The last few years have been tough for Kalle Berglund, who has struggled with his mental health. He decided early on that 2022 would be a gap year, something he said SVT extension.
After the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, the joy of competing and training like an elite athlete didn’t exist. He therefore chose to withdraw zero crowns from his contribution from SOK, which he would receive as part of Topp och Talang.
“I decided pretty quickly that the best thing for me was to take 2022 as my recovery year and focus on what’s really important, my mental health. I was 100% transparent to both SOK and the media,” he writes. Berglund.

When the SOK presented the athletes who were part of the support through Topp och Talang the other day, Berglund was not there. He now criticizes the SOK and believes the decision would have been different if he had prioritized his mental health.
“Honestly, if I had ignored my mental recovery and focused on training and ran well, I think the decision would have been different.”
The answer: “A lack of communication”
Also, criticizes the lack of communication.
“But the fact that I first learned the news in an article on the internet is the simple answer: “There was a communication error”, Yes you, I don’t know what to say…”, he concludes .
At the Espresso replies SOK’s director of operations Peter Reinebo to criticism of the communication.
– I don’t know exactly how it was handled in this case. But I hope that was not the case. If that’s the case, it’s clearly a mistake on our part and very sad for Kalle, she says.
