Trump: Elon Musk deliberately lost Twitter presidency poll

Former US President Donald Trump believed that Twitter owner Elon Musk conducted the poll on his resignation from the site’s presidency “because he wants to retire,” according to the Independent newspaper.

Musk announced at dawn today, Wednesday, that he would step down as president of ‘Twitter’ as soon as he found ‘a person foolish enough’ to replace him, indicating that he would then manage the ‘software and server teams’ in the platform.

Twitter users voted for Musk to step down as the site’s CEO after the latter conducted a poll about his future and said he would stick to his findings.

And Trump said in a statement that the American billionaire “intentionally lost” a poll about his future on “Twitter” because he no longer wanted the job of managing the site he had bought for $44 billion.

The former Republican president added by saying, I think he wants to resign, and I think this is a good way to resign… losing in a poll and saying, “I’m out of here.”

Among the approximately 17.5 million people who took the poll, a total of 57.5% voted “yes” after Musk asked, via his account, if he should step down, compared to 42.5% with ” no”.

Since his takeover of Twitter, Musk has fired half of the company’s senior employees, reactivated former US President Donald Trump’s account, and rescinded the Covid-19 anti-misinformation policy.

Musk also froze the accounts of some journalists and prevented competing social platforms from being promoted via Twitter, before returning from that.

These many changes have caught the attention of policy makers both in the United States and in Europe.

The European Commission has previously warned Musk that the European Union could impose “sanctions” on him because of the threat he poses to media freedom.

Twitter’s share price has dropped by a third since Musk bought the platform.
