The New Yorkers crush Golden State 132-94 on an eight-game winning streak
The defending champions are the worst away game in the league: away from San Francisco their record is 3-15
Los New York Knicks celebrated Tuesday at Madison Square Garden against the Golden State Warriorsorphans by Steph Curry, and success for 132-94 to add his eighth straight NBA win. Immanuel Quickley shone with 22 points in 22 minutes, Jalen Brunson surpassed 20 points for the 18th time this year (21 tonight) and Julius Randle sealed a double-double of 15 points and 12 assists against the Warriors who suffered the 15th loss in 18 games played outside San Francisco, the worst record in the NBA. The Knicks capitalized on the loss of Steph Curry, who missed the sixth straight game with a left shoulder injury, and finished with six players over 10 points, including RJ Barrett’s 18. Tom Thibodeau’s team never stops pressing on the accelerator and is sixth in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 18-13. His eight-game hitting streak is the longest this season in the NBA.
Poole is left alone
The Warriors lost points and the lead to Curry. The only one who tried to fight back was Jordan Poole, with 26 points, insufficient to change the history of a game dominated by the Knicks. The second leading scorer of the Warriors was Jonathan Kuminga, with 13 points, while Klay Thompson did not exceed 11. Draymond Green had 7, with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The New Yorkers, who had just won against the Indiana Pacers last Sunday with an 11-2 run in the final two minutes, commanded with authority, led by their stellar trio of Brunson, Randle and RJ Barrett.
The Knicks are on course for a first half win
The 8-0 with which they opened the match was a clear warning about the night that awaited the Warriors, whose lack of aggression was reflected in the rebound fight, lost 57-32. The Knicks had an eight-point lead at the end of the first period and the lead was thirteen points (69-56) at halftime, after a season-high fifteen points. RJ Barrett’s 11 points in the third period led to a comfortable victory for the New Yorkers, against a blocked and lackluster Warriors, in which Poole was the only one to try to change the dynamic, with 9 points. The Knicks had a lot of fun and Isaiah Hartenstein also participated in the recital with an excellent assist, almost 20 meters, for McBride’s dunk (120-88). There were more than five minutes to go, but Steve Kerr had already steered Poole, Green and Thompson off the pitch, with his sights set on the games to come. Joining the Knicks party was Immanuel Quickley, who reached 22 points, going 5 of 6 on 3-pointers.
The Warriors remain in New York and this Wednesday they face the Brooklyn Nets, who are also in excellent form, with an open six-game winning streak. They are currently 11th in the West (15-17), out of the ‘playoff’ positions.
