An Egyptian man died of a heart attack while celebrating Argentina’s World Cup victory. Spain’s Marca reported on the 21st (local time) that a 26-year-old man named Mostafa Abdel Al suffered a heart attack after watching the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France in Qatar.

The man returned home after watching the World Cup finals at a restaurant in Cairo, Egypt on the 18th, and collapsed of a heart attack two hours later. He was then taken to the hospital but never regained consciousness.

The cause of death was known as happy heart syndrome. Gamal Saban, cardiologist at the Egyptian National Institute of Heart Disease, explained: “It corresponds to the ‘happy heart syndrome’, in which the heart is tense due to excessive joy at Messi’s victory.”
