Elon Musk says he will step down as Twitter CEO as soon as he finds a successor. His announcement comes two days after engaging Twitter users in an unrepresentative online poll asked vote for its leadership. The majority voted for his departure.
On Twitter, Musk now reports that he will step down from his job as director as soon as he finds someone “crazy enough to take this job.” Next, he says he will only lead the software and server teams. Incidentally, as the owner of the tech company, he will last word keep holding.
Musk, who also owns electric car maker Tesla and aerospace company SpaceX, has been at the helm of Twitter since October. He invested $44 billion in the company.
Changes
Subsequently, the billionaire made a lot of changes in a short time, which led to a lot of turmoil. For example, Twitter announced last weekend that it was forbidden to link tweets to other social media, a measure that was withdrawn shortly after.
The so-called blue check, which Musk wants to debit accounts, was already discussed earlier. He also unblocked former US President Trump’s account, which was banned from Twitter because he didn’t distance himself enough from the Capitol stormers in his tweets. Musk also decided to do so after an unrepresentative online survey.
Round of dismissal
In addition to the platform itself, a lot has also changed in Twitter’s business operations. For example, more than a week after taking office, Musk laid off about half of his staff, about 7,500 employees. Dozens of them were asked to return shortly thereafter.
