First stage: Turn off Always on Display devices. Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and cellular are also turned off. The devices were in standby mode and the decrease in charge was recorded by 80 to 20%.
Second phase: Smartphones were in the same state. The only difference is that the AOD function has been enabled.
It has been found that devices drain 3-5x faster with Always on Display enabled. The experts explained that in the first test the smartphones consumed 10mA, in the second from 35 to 50mA.
Always on Display has another drawback: pixel burn-in. If the same information is displayed on OLED screens in one area, the image may stay there forever. It will look like a watermark. Manufacturers try to avoid this problem by slightly moving each icon on the display.
We recommend disabling Always on Display if you don’t use it. This will save you precious battery life.
