Anglet falls arms in hand against the dukes

Perhaps anecdotal, because the firepower of the Angevin offensive remains present, attests to the result of the beginning of the month when the Dukes had reached eight in La Barre (1-8). This Tuesday evening, this confrontation started in a great way, after about ten seconds of play, Anton Vasilyev was close to playing a bad joke on Evan Cowley, but without success. Angers responded briskly with Philippe Halley, only on the break, the Canadian tripped over Mathew Robson. No time to look at the skates during this start, the Dukes followed up with a big highlight in the offensive zone against the Angloys who sacrificed themselves on all drives. Insufficient, after several assaults, Marius Serer offered a gift from behind the net to Téo Sarlieve who fixed the Anglo goalkeeper from close range (1-0, 11th). Despite this logical initial score, Mathew Robson has multiplied the majestic registers to seal a first act dominated head and shoulders by Angers.

41 saves by Robson

On the restart Anglet finds some breath, but still goes to concede the break. Finding himself there somewhat by chance near the Angloye cage, defender Neil Manning found an angle between Robson’s shoulder and his post to score the break goal (2-0, 26th). Regrettable, for a Basque team that has shown much more attack going into this central third through its first trio in particular: Vasilyev – Glover – Ranger. But not so acute as to worry an Angevin formation that was all too well placed on its own ice, back in the locker room with this advantage of two goals twenty minutes from the siren.

Highlighted at Iceparc last night, Mathew Robson looked after his stats and once again proved his level against a title contender. Because in terms of shooting, the Dukes had an impressive 31 shots after forty minutes, versus just 13 shots in Anglet’s favor. And the Canadian goalkeeper’s performance allowed his team to get back into the game at the beginning of the last third. A nice trio from the second trio, between Thomas Decock, Nicolas Arrossamena then Fabien Kazarine who came to put Evan Cowley to bed, before finishing with a backhand (2-1, 44th).

While the Angloys thought they could increase their deficit, Marius Serer, using his skate, gave his people a two-unit lead after watching the video (3-1, 50th). At the end of the game, less than two minutes from the gong, Pierrick Rézard played his last cards leaving Mathew Robson, author of 41 saves this Tuesday evening, to evolve with six field players. But that fell short and the Angloys bowed with honors against the Continental Cup finalist.

The Hormadis now have an appointment this Thursday evening at the Barre (8.30pm), with the reception of the Mulhouse Scorpions.
