Volodymir Zelenskythe president of Ukraine confirmed that the video of his peace message was banned from playing in the final World Cup 2022. Fifa which forbids it.
Reported by Reuters, Zelensky issued a statement to hold a global peace conference, in the midst of the war between Russia and Ukraine. He uploaded a message, which he previously wanted to be played in the 2022 World Cup final.
As the largest tournament in the world, it was hoped that the 2022 World Cup could be a vehicle for the message of peace that Zelensky wanted to convey. However, his intention was later banned by FIFA.
FIFA banned the video from being shown before kick-off between Argentina and France in the 2022 World Cup Final. Zelensky later confirmed this.
“Even though FIFA blocked this message from being displayed in stadiums ahead of the final match in Qatar, the world still hears our call,” he said. Volodymir Zelensky in his speech.
Zelensky later compared the war to the World Cup. According to him, the worst part of the 2022 World Cup was only the red card, not the nuclear button.
“But the competition is on the playing field, not on the battlefield. The worst thing that can happen is a red card, not a red button,” he said Volodymir Zelensky.
World Cup 2022, as FIFA President Gianni Infantino has previously said, should be impetus for a ceasefire, especially regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine. He said so at the G20 summit in Bali last November.
