Packers keep playoff hopes alive after NFL win over Rams

First edit:

Green Bay (USA) (AFP) – The Green Bay Packers kept their slim NFL playoff hopes alive on Monday with a 24-12 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

Veteran Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers connected on 22 of 30 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown with an interception as Green Bay now improved to 6-8.

AJ Dillon brought the heat to freezing Lambeau Field in Green Bay, rushing for two touchdowns for the Packers.

This included driving across the line for a one-yard touchdown that gave the Packers a 17-6 third quarter lead.

Rodgers then connected with Aaron Jones for a seven-yard touchdown run.

The Rams cut the deficit with an eight-yard touchdown pass from their quarterback Baker Mayfield to Tyler Higbee, but the Packers defense blocked with an interception.

Mayfield, who was waived of waivers this month after injuries to starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and backup John Wolford, completed 12 of 21 passes for 111 yards.

Quarterback Mayfield led the Rams to an upset victory over Las Vegas last week in his first appearance for the team.

But the Rams, already off to the worst start of any defending Super Bowl champion, are now down to 4-10.

With three games remaining, the Packers trail the Washington Commanders for the final NFL National Conference playoff spot.
