TintoConCasera user of the forum NeoGAF drew attention to a series of images created by artificial intelligence algorithms that can be mistaken for frames from a non-existent film adaptation of the fantasy role-playing action Dark Souls from the FromSoftware studio.
Nearly three dozen neural-network-generated illustrations (presumed to be Midjourney) show recognizable elements of FromSoftware’s brutal success in a loose interpretation: For example, Ornstein and Gwyn “became” women, and a third paw grew on a undead crow of North Sanctuary.
Among other things, on the frames you can see a number of characters (Oscar, Keeper of Fire, Dejected Warrior, Andre), bosses (Demon of Refuge, gargoyles, Sif, Iron Golem, Smough) and locations (Temple of Fire, Undead City , Shire of the Undead, Hay Keep, Anor Londo, Tomb of the Giants, Duke’s Archives, Forgotten Izalith).
YouTuber Umbrahammer2 combined 25 of the 28 images generated by the neural network into a video titled Dark Souls as an 80’s Dark Fantasy Film (“Dark Souls in the form of a dark fantasy film of the 80s”), which gives the impression of a films with practical effects, expensive sets and elaborate costumes.
In the comments on YouTube, viewers appreciated the work of artificial intelligence, noting the high quality of the illustrations and caused by the roll “kind of nostalgia”. Some even complained that the adaptation wasn’t real. “I would definitely watch this movie”— confessed Leonard Felix.
Recall that according to the plot, Dark Souls users get the role of the chosen undead, who must travel to the fictional kingdom of Lordran in order to rekindle the sacred fire and delay the advent of the Age of Darkness. In fact, everything turns out to be not so simple.
Dark Souls debuted in September 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and came to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2018 as a remaster. Due to a dangerous vulnerability in January 2022, the multiplayer of Dark Souls and its re-release on PC turned offand turned on already alone for updated version.
