Sergei Yursky has become famous for dozens of brilliant roles. “Love and Pigeons”, “Republic of SHKID”, “Tales of the Old Wizard” – all these pictures made the artist a real star and legend of the screen. Loyal fans closely followed the life of their favorite artist, but few people guessed what a secret he kept all these years.
The fact is that Yursky was born into the family of an artist of noble origin Yuri Zhikharev. A talented actor, he regularly encountered anti-Semitic sentiment in his youth and was even exiled to Saratov because of his pedigree.
Over time, Zhikharev managed to return to Leningrad, where he decided to avoid possible troubles and changed his surname. The actor came up with a pseudonym simply by changing his name, and over time he officially made it his family’s surname.
Sergei, when he started his career, chose not to change his name. He remained Jurassic, making his father’s pseudonym famous across the country.
