from the shipyard Bizerte, in Tunisia, the ship Pascal Paoli of Corsica line took advantage of a 50-day technical shutdown to supervise a series of maintenance and energy redevelopment works. He will return to the Marseille-Bastia line on December 20 and will be able to report on his news.
One of the great challenges of this technical stop was to guarantee the repair of the silicone paint, which limits the resistance to rubbing and prevents the proliferation of invasive species. Therefore, the smoother the surface, the less the ship will consume to ensure its propulsion and reach the desired speed. At the same time, a refit of the injection of the main engines was also carried out, in which new variable injection pumps were integrated.
This dry dock trip will also have been an opportunity to inspect two propulsion engines, provide for the complete repair of a stabilizer to ensure an always pleasant journey in case of bad weather and, finally, carry out boiler, mechanical and painting works on the pipes . These different actions will reduce energy consumption by 5%.
To provide an optimized travel experience, 12 classic cabins have been transformed into pieces with a double bed for the passengers. Seven new crew quarters were also added.
Likewise, the heating and air conditioning system has also been cleaned and checked. Finally, there is the repainting of the parking spaces, which will allow passengers to better orient themselves from the moment they arrive on board and the moment they leave.
