Earlier in the year, the Super Bowl dilemma of a soccer-mad Fulda student caused a stir on the net. Now the moderators of “Ran Football” want to fulfill their promise to headmaster Ulf Brüdigam and pay a visit to his school.
Update from December 20, 9:36 am: Originally Dr. On July 21, Ulf Brüdigam, director of the Freiherr-vom-Stein school in Fulda, invited the moderators of the ProSieben show “Ran Football” to the school festival. The principal had made the visit a condition of factoring in next year’s Super Bowl in exam planning (see the first report, Feb. 1).
Fulda: Ran’s team visits Stein School for soccer lessons
“Dear Freiherr-vom-Stein-School, we look forward to your visit!” reads a video contribution from Ran’s editorial team. At first nothing came of the visit to the school festival, but apparently the football experts have not forgotten their promise: On January 18, 2023, the “Ran Football” team will come to the Freiherr-vom-Stein-School, reports school sports director Tobias Jestadt
According to Jestädt, the team wants to visit different classes first. “From 1 pm there will be a ‘meet and greet’ in the Gellingshalle with the moderators Christoph ‘Icke’ Dommisch and Carsten Spengemann,” she reads. Photos and autographs are expected.
Students should also have the opportunity to learn more about sports. The Fulda Saints provide their equipment for this. And high school students can even look forward to a training session – with the support of the coaches of the Fulda football club.
Sounds like good preparation for the Super Bowl, which takes place on February 12th. The Freiherr-vom-Stein-School gives its students hope that this time they can follow the largest individual sporting event in the world without worries: “We are planning that this time Monday will be free of exams,” said the school’s sports director Jestädt at osthessen-zeitung.de.
First report from February 1, 2022:
Fulda – LK exam right after the Super Bowl? Apparently, this date is not suitable for a 13th grade soccer fan. The student of the Freiherr-vom-Stein-School in Fulda received considerable support for his request to postpone the exam – from the moderators of the ProSieben program “Ran Football”.
But even the well-known support does not protect the student from scrutiny after Super Bowl night. There is no room for postponement, principal Dr. Ulf Brüdigam explained to the Fuldaer Zeitung. The exam schedule is too precise and the semester is too short. Meanwhile, Brüdigam, who has received numerous emails for the Super Bowl cause, even recorded a video statement.
The Super Bowl dilemma at Stein School: Ran’s team arrives in Fulda
In the clip, which was posted on the homepage of the Freiherr-vom-Stein-School, the principal scrolls through the exam schedule on his tablet. Ahead of February 14, Brüdigam, who is in the home office with a corona infection, says: “There is nothing more that can be done.”
In the exam after Super Bowl 56 – the Cincinnati Bengals meet the Los Angeles Rams – football fans in the student body, according to Brüdigam, must write with a healthy dose of caffeine. But the principal bodes well for next year. So students should be able to vote on whether the day after the Super Bowl will remain exam-free.

But there is a requirement for Brüdigam: “In order to actually find a majority in favor (for the vote, ed), we naturally need the experts on the subject here in our school”. -Moderators Jan Stecker and Christoph “Icke” Dommisch are cordially invited to “give us lessons in American football”.
Ulf Brüdigam formulates a wish: “Come to the Freiherr-vom-Stein-School.” For this, the principal is considering a school holiday on July 21st. He’s responding to an offer from Jan Stecker. He had suggested going to school in Fulda with his colleague “Icke” if the exam was postponed.
And although the latter does not work, Ran’s editorial team seems to appreciate the commitment of the principal. A video post says: “Dear Freiherr-vom-Stein-School, we look forward to your visit!” It is not yet clear if this will actually happen on July 21 or when.
Super Bowl dilemma: The Fulda economic region finds the “Föllsche” initiative great.
Meanwhile, the topic is causing a stir in Fulda. “Our phones didn’t stop today when it came to Ran’s video for the Freiherr-vom-Stein-School,” Florian Albinger from the Fulda Region Economic Development Agency reported in our newspaper on Friday. Both he and managing directors Christoph Burkard and Christian Vey attended the high school in Fulda and understood the students’ concerns.
Albinger is delighted with the engagement and the media presence: “Our region of young talent puts Fulda in the spotlight. As a business development agency and also former students of this school, we find the ‘Föllsche’ initiative of our students.”
