(Reuters) – France forward Kingsley Coman and midfielder Aurélien Chuameni have faced racism online after failing to score a penalty in their World Cup final against Qatar against Argentina.
In the penalty shoot-out, Coman’s shot was saved by Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Chuameni removed the frame. Argentina won the World Cup for the third time since 1986.
Bayern Munich (Germany), of which Coman is a part, posted on Twitter: “The Bayern family stands with you. There is no place for racism, neither in football nor in society.”
At last year’s European Championship, England’s Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all failed on penalties in the final against Italy. England lost and three players were subjected to racism on transfer sites.
