Partnership with Shanxi Mother-Child Hospital, Taiyuan, China

Partnership with Shanxi Mother-Child Hospital, Taiyuan, China:
An agreement signed on Thursday 15 December 2022

The signing of an international hospital cooperation agreement gives this partnership, launched in August 2017,
an official and lasting existence.

The genesis of the partnership

This partnership was initiated by the French Embassy in China in accordance with the policy followed at the time (“one French university hospital, one Chinese province”). It was she who organized the first contacts in Taiyuan, in August 2017, during the participation of the CHU of Nîmes in the Sino-French forum on mother-child health, scheduled by the Embassy on the sidelines of the Beijing Health International forum.

The Shanxi Province Maternal and Child Hospital immediately expressed a strong desire to collaborate with the Nîmes CHU in the field of maternal and child health, which is one of the five priority topics for cooperation defined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 8 last January, 2018 between the French and Chinese health ministers.

The first goals have therefore already been set, including in human resources, as explained by Anissa Megzari, Director of Research and Hospital-University and International Partnerships “The University Hospital of Nîmes has already recently welcomed a Chinese doctoral student”.

The objectives of the cooperation

Two priority objectives have been defined: firstly, the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders and pathologies of the pelvic floor, in the gynecological-obstetrics field; and secondly the control of antibiotics, the management of nosocomial infections, the use of analgesic treatments and developmental care, in the field of neonatology and neonatal resuscitation.

“Moreover, Sino-French cooperation is now opening up to other fields, especially digital research and developments. Furthermore, we also wish to launch a collaborative research activity together, to develop innovation in health”, specifies Nicolas Best, director general of the CHU of Nîmes, welcoming this partnership and thanking the maneuver teams that contribute to this beautiful collaboration .
