Marcaccio, who finished 284th in the ATP rankings in 2004, had previously coached his compatriot Juan Mónac, former world number 10. Since last April he has been working at Nadal’s tennis academy in Mallorca.

He will now join the 36-year-old Spanish star’s other coaches, Carlos Moy and Marc López.
