Kochi – An eight-year-old Bengali girl was brutalized by a relative and friend. Manik Lal (37) from Bengal and her friend Akshay Karun (38) from Odisha, who sexually assaulted the girl, were arrested by the police. The arrest was made in a case registered by Ernakulam South Police.
After her parents’ death, she lived with her maternal sister. When she was studying in the first class, the boy was sexually harassed by giving him chips and taking him aside. Manik Lal is the boy’s relative. He used to come in drunk and abuse the child. A case was registered after receiving information about it.
The child was given detailed advice and the statement was recorded with the help of translators. Both were arrested under the Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO Sections.
