Five people killed in a shooting in the Toronto suburbs / Article

The suspected killer was also killed in the shootout with law enforcement, local police chief Jim McSween said.

The shooting in Vaughan, located 30 kilometers north of Toronto, took place in an apartment building.

The injured man was taken to the hospital and his life is not in danger.

The police were called to the scene on Sunday evening. The police are investigating the motive for the crime and if there was any connection between the attacker and the victims.

By all accounts, the shooter acted alone. The victims were found in several apartments in the building.

Although multiple fatality shootings are far less common in Canada than in the United States, gun attacks there have also become more frequent in recent years.

In April 2020, an attacker dressed as a police officer in Nova Scotia killed 22 people.

On the other hand, in September of this year, an attacker killed 11 people and injured 18 others in an isolated Indian community in Saskatchewan.

Canada banned 1,500 types of military and combat-grade firearms in May 2020, shortly after the Nova Scotia massacre.
