Police arrest 159 beggars in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi police arrested 159 beggars from the emirate from November 6 to December 12 this year. Police have warned that beggars are making up stories to mislead the public and attract sympathy, and not fall for these scams.

Various campaigns are underway in the emirate to arrest beggars. Police have asked the public to cooperate with the measures and to do their part to reduce begging on the streets.

We must refrain from personally distributing alms. Police also reiterated that official channels, institutions and charities should be used to ensure donations reach the right people. The police also asked the public to report begging cases through the 999 command and control center.
