The Provincial Health Bureau of Riau has recorded 2,102 people infected with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) since the beginning of January 2022. Of the thousands who have contracted the disease, 14 people have died.
“The cumulative figures since January have been 2,102 people in Riau infected with DHF and 14 people have died,” Riau provincial health bureau chief Zainal Arifin said on Friday (12/16/2022).
Zainal noted that nearly hundreds of people are infected with DHF in Riau every month. However, the highest number occurred in July, which was 268 cases with a zero death rate.
Since July, DHF cases have started to decline to 218 cases in August, 210 cases in September, 221 cases in October and 164 cases last November.
“Looking at the data, there are cases that tend to decrease towards the end of the year. Where the highest cases occurred in July with 268 dengue cases,” he said.
The highest cases of DHF in Riau were Pekanbaru City with a total of 763 cases, Kampar with 233 cases, Rokan Hulu with 209 cases, Dumai with 160 cases and Siak with 156 cases. Then there are Kuansing 139 cases, Bengkalis 114 cases, Pelalawan 80 cases, Inhil 77 cases and Rohil 67 cases.
“The lowest DHF cases were Inhu with 63 cases and the Meranti Islands with 41 cases. Where the highest death cases occurred last January with 4 cases,” he said.
As an effort to reduce DHF cases in Riau, the Health Service calls on the entire community to implement early prevention. One of them is doing 3M to prevent dengue cases during rainy season like recently.
