Coins, jewels, semolina, canned tuna… We saw it in 2022 during the seizure operations that affected airports throughout Algeria.
After all, not more than last week, the Houari Boumedienne international airport in Algiers was marked by a seizure that was nothing short of a record.
The elements of the customs services of the Algiers airport, in fact, thwarted an attempt to transfer “illegal” electronic products from abroad. Result: 271 smartphones and a hundred mobile phone accessories seized.
In all, the customs services recovered: 271 smartphones of the “Samsung”, “Oppo” and “Redmi” types. But that’s not all, the list also includes 550 wireless headphones and 50 “Nuit de l’Homme” perfume bottles. Not forgetting, boxes of women’s and men’s razors from the “Gillette” brand.
Let’s go back to the cocaine seizure at the Algiers airport
At the end of last November, the Algiers airport had suffered a major seizure of drugs of the type: Cocaine. Customs elements at the international terminal level got their hands on 247.21 grams of cocaine.
The large amount of cocaine was hidden in the intestines of a passenger from abroad. The press release from the Algerian Directorate General of Customs also underlines that the traveler in question has been arrested and sent back to the judicial authority.
Unfortunately this drug seizure was not the only one in November. November 21st. PAF elements at the port of Algiers also seized 7.6 kilograms of cocaine from another traveller.
This traveler was on board the Corsica Linea crossing which made the journey between the port of Marseilles and that of Algiers. The passenger in question managed to smuggle such a quantity of narcotics through checks at the port of Marseille. But it was quickly discovered by the customs officers of the Algerian port. The latter proceeded to arrest this passenger in order to initiate legal proceedings against him.
