The American Josh Herrin will take the place left by Danilo Petrucci on the Ducati Panigale V4 in American Superbike.
Ducati hoped to keep Danilo Petrucci in the United States Superbike Championship (MotoAmerica) in 2023, in order to benefit from his good results and the media spotlight he receives. The Italian, on the other hand, seized the opportunity he had to enter the World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK) with the Barni team.
The Ducati-backed Warhorse HSBK Racing team, who rode Petrux in 2022 after working with Frenchman Loris Baz in 2021, therefore had to find a replacement for him. It will be the American Josh Herrin, who won the Supersport category a few weeks ago.
Josh Herrin’s name is far from unknown in the MotoAmerica paddock. The 32-year-old Californian notably won the supreme title of US Superbike champion in 2013, then won the Superstock 1000 category in 2016. He then returned to the Superbike class, before being entered by the Warhorse team in Supersport. A bet that paid off given that he was crowned in his first season on the Ducati Panigale V2.
The latter will be back in 2023 by Spaniard Xavi Forés, who recently celebrated his 37th birthday. An adventure in American Supersport that comes after a 2022 season in which he took part in the MotoE World Cup (14th place) and four race weekends in the Superbike World Championship (three results in the top-10, 33 points won).
