JAKARTA – This is the place with the most volcanoes Nanny Surya: Me . Not a planet. But the moon of the planet Jupiter . And for the first time, astronomers can get close to studying Io.

The reason, because of the spaceship NASA it will pass by Io and provide a closer view of one of the most volcanic places in our Solar System.

NASA’s Juno spacecraft is scheduled to fly near Io. So close, that they can gather a lot of important information about Io. Juno itself has been orbiting Jupiter since July 2016.

Io is one of the 80 moons of the Jupiter system. Io’s surface is encrusted with magma. Its surface is covered with hundreds of volcanoes.

Scientists wanted to understand how these eruptions might change Jupiter’s magnetosphere and what effect they would have on the planet’s living auroras.

Over the next year and a half, the Juno spacecraft will make a total of nine flights through Io.

Two close encounters will bring the spacecraft within 1,500 km of Io’s surface.

Earlier this year, Juno captured a spectacular view of Io from about 50,000 miles away. Io’s volcanically active surface, dotted with hundreds of volcanoes and ravaged by lakes of molten silicate lava, appears to glow in infrared images. The bright spots in the portrait indicate areas of warmer temperatures, according to NASA.

Juno was launched into space in 2011 and arrived at Jupiter five years later.

The spacecraft then spent another five years studying Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system. Juno peered through Jupiter’s thick clouds and studied the planet’s atmosphere and climate.
