The government and opposition parties continued their discussions on next year’s budget management this morning, but could not reduce their differences on the main issues contained in the mediation plan of the president of the National Assembly.
People’s Power chief Ho-young Joo and Democratic Party chief Hong-geun Park held closed-door negotiations for about an hour with Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho at the National Assembly from 11:00 today .
After the negotiations, Joo Nae-nae said, “We have not yet reduced our differences on the issue of lowering the top corporate tax rate and budgeting for the Police Department and the Police Information Management Team. staff of the Ministry of Justice”.
However, with the exception of the two issues, it was explained that this was a situation where opposition party and disagreement had been reduced to some extent.
In response to the question “Do you still want to receive a 3 percentage point cut on the highest corporate tax rate?”, Joo Nae-nae replied: “I cannot reveal the details of the negotiations, but our party believes that a cut equivalent to the 3 percentage point originally requested by the government is possible”. It should be a position statement,” he explained.
Furthermore, he said, “I expect there will be discussions related to the budget bill in the high-ranking meeting of the party and the government held today at 2 pm in the Prime Minister’s Office, but I don’t know the details.”
Democratic Party leader Park Hong-geun told reporters, “The government and the ruling party have not yet officially announced that they will not accept the president’s arbitration proposal, so we are in the process of persuading them.”
