The Brussels Town Hall, from which the mayor and aldermen will soon be leaving, will have a future as a museum from spring. Mayor Philippe Close (PS) said on the sidelines of the presentation of the budget.
The mayor and aldermen, as well as the city council, will move from January to BruCity, the brand new administrative center of the city of Brussels on the site of the former Parking 58.
Classified since 1936, the town hall can currently only be visited on Wednesdays and Sundays, by appointment and with a guide. Visiting options will be expanded from the spring, Close says, but some things still need to be ironed out.
The Brussels Town Hall on the Grand Place was built in the 15th century in the style of Brabant Gothic, three classical wings were added to the rear in the 18th century.
