“We created this album as a conceptual continuation of the summer solstice album ‘Sit, Jānīti’, which premiered this summer at the Valmiermuiža ethnic music festival,” explained Kaspars Bārbals, a member of the group “Auļi”, and revealed that the musicians plan to organize winter concerts next year.
Drummers Edgars Kučiks, Mārtiņš Miļevskis, Kaspars Indrēvics, Edgars Krūmins, bassist Gatis Valters, bagpipers Normunds Vaivads, Leanne Barbo, Kaspars Bārbals, Edgars Kārklis and Gatis Indrēvics participated in the recording of the album. A special place in the sound of the new album is occupied by a unique four-string guitar specially built for “Auliam”, handcrafted by maestro Rihards Walters, whose “wild sound” is tamed by the virtuoso cellist Miķelis Dobičins. The lyrical songs are enhanced by the harp played by Ilze Grunte and the panduri, a Georgian stringed instrument.
The musicians are called soloists Asnati Rancāni, Katrīna Dimanta, Beāti Zviedri, as well as the ethnographic ensemble of Otaņki as “the most beautiful decoration of the album”. The album also features the vocals of “Auļu” Mārtiņus Miļevskis, Edgars Kārklas, Gats Walters, Kaspars Bārbals, Andrejs Planders, as well as Eduards Plankājs and Edgars Zilberts.
