The Pentagon’s efforts to investigate anomalous and unidentified objects — in space, in the sky or even underwater — have resulted in hundreds of new reports that are now being investigated, US officials say. But so far nothing has been found that points to intelligent alien life.
“To date, I haven’t seen anything that indicates an alien visitation, an alien incident, or anything like that,” said Deputy Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security Ronald Moultrie.
Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the new Pentagon’s Office of Anomalies (AARO), didn’t rule out the possibility of extraterrestrial life and said he was taking a scientific approach to the study.
The AARO mission focuses on unexplained activity around military installations and aims to identify possible threats to the security of U.S. military operations and national security.
A government report last year documented more than 140 incidents of what the US military officially calls “unidentified aerial phenomena.” All but one of these observations remain unexplained and are subject to further analysis.
