President Russia Vladimir Putin held extensive meetings with the highest ranks of Russian military supervision invasion of Ukraine. This meeting was held when Moscow’s troops had just launched a barrage of rocket attacks on various cities Ukraineincluding the capital Kiev.

As reported AFP extensionOn Saturday (12/17/2022), the Kremlin or the Russian presidency said the meeting was held on Friday (12/16) local time, the same day a barrage of Russian missiles rained down on various parts of Ukraine which caused damage to a number of power generation facilities.

“On Friday (12/16), the president spent the entire day with military personnel involved in a special military operation in Ukraine,” the Kremlin said in a statement on Saturday (12/17) local time.

The Kremlin said the meeting was held by Putin with Defense Minister (Menhan) Sergei Shoigu and Chief of Staff General Valery Gerasimov. Putin also held separate discussions with commanders of various defense branches.

“I would like to hear your proposals for our actions in the short and medium term,” Putin heard in the video of the meeting broadcast on Russian state television.

Russia fired a barrage of missiles at various cities in Ukraine throughout Friday (12/16) local time. The Russian missile attack has plunged darkness over Ukraine, with electricity, water and heating cut off forcing residents to endure sub-zero temperatures as winter sets in.

After a series of humiliating battlefield defeats, Moscow has since last October launched air strikes against targets declared by the Kremlin to be of a military nature. But Kiev has accused Russia of deliberately targeting critical civilian infrastructure on its territory.

Western countries, including France and the European Union, say that causing suffering to civilians facing winter is tantamount to a war crime. The European Union has called Russia’s latest incursion into Ukraine a “barbaric” act.
