“Today the honored coach of the USSR Valery Ivanovich Belov died. He dedicated his life to boxing and made a huge contribution to its development in our country. I am very grateful to the fate that connected me with this wonderful person and coach, and he will forever remain in my memory, ”Povetkin wrote.
Belov in different years also trained the former world champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Denis Lebedev, the former absolute world champion Konstantin Tszyu.
At one time, the specialist was in the coaching staff of the Russian national team, in recent years he worked in the Vityaz sports club with young boxers.
