Government sub-delegation presents ‘Safe Trade Plan’ to protect establishments and citizens during Christmas campaign shopping

The sub-delegate of the Government in Salamanca, Encarnación Pérez, presented today at the El Tormes Shopping Center in Santa Marta the strengthening of the ‘Secure Commerce Plan’ that the State Security Forces and Bodies, in collaboration with the Local Police, will develop in the main commercial and leisure areas of the municipality during the Christmas period.

The Safe Trade campaign was attended by the Santa Marta Police Advisor, Jesús Hernández; the Councilor for Health, Silvia González; the lieutenant colonel responsible for commanding the Guardia Civil, Pedro Merino; the Chief Commissioner of the Salamanca National Police Station, Claudio Díaz; the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Salamanca, Benjamín Crespo; and the mall manager, Cuca Gonzalo.

A plan that aims to protect the commercial sector and its customers throughout the year but, in periods such as Christmas, is strengthened to minimize the proliferation of crimes against merchants and citizens who frequent the commercial areas. For this reason, police work is intensified with specific operational devices in those places where there are crowds of people, especially in commercial and leisure areas, busy streets and entertainment areas, both in cities and in rural areas, whether they are traditional establishments or temporarily established markets. The services will be carried out daily in the time slots of greatest commercial activity and influx of public promoters police patrols in both uniform and plainclothes.

Likewise, the Local Police are involved, with which actions are coordinated through the holding of Security Meetings, to which is added the collaboration of private Supervisory personnel who provide services in places and areas of interest, with whose Directors or Managers of Security will agree on the detailed operating procedures that apply in each case, in particular in relation to the handling of complaints that the security guards must present.

In addition, the agents maintain permanent contact with businesses and associations representing the commercial sector to facilitate fluid contact and offer a more effective service, and guides and leaflets with safety advice are distributed to associations and traders.

These publications include the most important points to consider in all phases of commerce – acquisition, transport, distribution, sale, online commerce, means of payment – as well as information on modus operandi, action in case of crime or formulation of complaints.
