Kozhikode: Police caught the suspect in the murder case that took place in downtown Kozhikode within days. Arjun, originally from Tamil Nadu, was arrested. The second murder of 19-year-old Arjun in Kozhikode in eight months. Arjun killed Sadiq, an out of state worker, on 11 December.
Eight months ago, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death after breaking a beer bottle at Red Hill Police Station in Chennai. Deputy City Commissioner P. The accused was arrested in Tamil Nadu by City Crime Squad led by Bijuraj and City Police led by City Police Inspector Baiju K. Poulos. City Sub Inspector Subhash Chandran arrested the accused.
Sadiq is killed on December 11th
Sadiq Sheikh, originally from West Bengal, was killed under mysterious circumstances on the night of 11 December. The body was found lying on the side of an abandoned house in the alley east of the Kozhikode railway station.
After getting the information, Deputy Police Commissioner Srinivas IPS and City Deputy Commissioner P. A police team led by Bijuraj also conducted the inspection. Inspector Baiju K. Poulos and his team thoroughly examined the rain-soaked body and its surroundings, but found no evidence of homicide.
Being a guest worker, no one could identify the body. It was at this point that the phone in Sadiq’s pocket rang. After answering the call, the police came to know that the deceased is Sadiq Sheikh, a native of Vardhaman, West Bengal who works as an embroiderer near Pushpa Junction and lives there. Then Sub-Inspector Subhash Chandran conducted an inquiry and took the body to Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The murder takes place

Later, when I gathered information from those who worked with the deceased, I realized that he didn’t talk much to anyone and was always listening to music or talking on the phone with earphones.
He said that after work he would go for a walk around town at night and come back around 10-11. Sadiq died on Sunday. His friends were waiting for Sadiq preparing biryani on the day of the holidays. When I called Sadiq at 7:30 at night, he said that he was at the market and that he would come soon. Later he called at a quarter to nine but there was no information except that the phone was ringing. The eight people who worked with him remembered that night with red eyes.
More video surveillance The investigation team decided to collect the footage and conduct an investigation. According to the coroner who conducted the autopsy, it was clear he was drunk. Then the carabinieri started the investigation focusing on the adjacent bar.
Sadiq, who reached the bar at around 7.30pm, was standing in a corner drinking on CCTV. He is visible. After a while he recognized the young man in the white T-shirt in front of him. Then they left the bar together. Shortly after, only the guy in the white shirt is seen scurrying back. In an effort to find out who this man in the white shirt was, the Special Investigation Team continued the investigation in two teams. The technical team and the action team were coordinated by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner P. Era Bijuraj.
CCTV Technical Team When the inspection was done, the action team conducted the inspection among the guest workers according to the instructions given by them. The technical team has around 100 CCTV cameras. The footage was collected and examined. The Action Team also audited the guest workers. The suspect was found during a search conducted by the action team using the suspect’s photo received from the tech team consisting of IT expert Rahul Mathottam.
After committing the murder, the police got information that the accused fled to Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu. Immediately, the investigation team headed by Sub-Inspector Subhash Chandran left for Tamil Nadu for the accused. When the investigation team inquired about the suspect in Cuddalore areas, they came to know that Arjun had come to Kerala on bail in another murder case.
A second murder to prosecute the first murder
The case in Tamil Nadu against Arjun was that he fatally stabbed a 15-year-old boy by breaking a beer bottle in the Red Hill Police Station area of Chennai. In this case he had entered Kerala on bail.
Arjun was captured during a morning operation in the slum where the defendant lives. Arjun is originally from Pattai Street, Ayankurinchipadi, Cuddalore. The suspect, caught after a loophole investigation, confessed to the crime during scientific questioning.
When money was needed to pursue the old murder case, an attempt to somehow get it resulted in a second murder. Arjun saw the money in the pockets of Sadiq Sheikh whom he met at the bar. With that, he followed Sadiq. Sadiq had about seven thousand rupees earned by doing embroidery work.
Arjun took Sadiq to a deserted house in the alley and pushed him down. Then he took a machete that was nearby and hit him on the head.
