Traditionally you send Christmas cards to family and friends, but most royalty also send a message via social media. Some Christmas greetings have already been sent this year too – including a photo of the royal family in question.
For the first time with dogs
The Belgian royal family pose together for the annual Christmas card they send out. King Philippe (52) and Queen Mathilde (49) are in the foreground, with their four children Gabriel (19), Elisabeth (21), Emmanuel (17) and Eléonore (14) behind them. And a nice scoop: their dogs Jeep and Simba are also on the Christmas card for the first time. The photo was taken at their home in Laeken. Incidentally, only the two youngest children still live with their parents.
Only the Spanish sisters
Spanish Royal Family Christmas card features King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia in their absence. Pictured are their daughters Leonor (17) and Sofia (15). The setting is less Christmassy: the two sisters pose in front of colorful autumn trees. On the reverse of the card is the message ‘Merry Christmas and Happy 2023’ in both English and Spanish.
Royal debut for Carlo and Camilla
It is the first time that Charles and Camilla have sent a Christmas card as king and queen. The card features a photo of the couple taken in September while attending the Braemar Gathering sporting event. In the photo, Charles and his wife are sitting next to each other, smiling at each other.
Charles and Camilla stick to a simple message in the Christmas card: “We wish you a very merry Christmas and New Year.”
A summer Christmas card from Kate and William
The Spanish royals opt for an autumn theme, but William and Kate can also be seen in a summer mood on their Christmas card. The British prince, his wife and their three children George (9), Charlotte (7) and Louis (4) are dressed lightly, against a backdrop of greenery and sunshine.
