SEGOVIA, 17 (PRESS EUROPE)
The City of Segovia has awarded the company ‘Técnicas para la Restauración y Construcciones SA (TRYCSA)’ the service contract for the complete cleaning of the upper vegetation of the Segovia Aqueduct for an amount of 39,203 euros, the works for which will last estimated three months and begin at the end of the year.
As stated in the call for tenders, the intervention will be carried out by an expert restoration specialist so that the treatments that are carried out are effective and do not damage the stone, as indicated by the Consistory in a notice.
In this sense, the winning company awards the contract to Carlos Sanz Velasco, a graduate in Fine Arts, specialized in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage.
In summary, it will involve the removal of existing plants and their elements, the treatment of plant remains and the removal of residues on ledges and cavities, among other interventions, verifying the state of the stone in the intervened areas.
In this regard, some studies on stone analysis from the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME) will be incorporated.
Furthermore, the contract provides for the drafting of a final report regarding the works and treatments carried out in the execution of the intervention, as well as the conservation needs identified.
The complete cleaning process of the Aqueduct vegetation will involve the use of auxiliary means such as lifting platforms which allow access to all the exposed fronts, including the upper parts of the monument.
