Today Monsignor José Rico Pavés, bishop of Asidonia-Jerez, held a meeting with the team of the Cáritas Diocesana de Asidonia-Jerez led by its director, Juan Pérez González.
First of all, the prelate blessed the shop that Cáritas Diocesana has in the El Paseo shopping center. In this establishment, he learned more about the production lines developed by the entity through his insertion company Casa Común. His visit began in the section of the textile recycling initiative, Moda re-, developed by Cáritas Diocesana in the scope of a cooperative social initiative promoted by Cáritas Española. Later, he was able to learn more about Devuelta, the entity’s furniture and decorative object restoration work, as well as its new patented upcycling brand, Fantoche.
Undoubtedly, all these initiatives reflect the commitment of Cáritas to follow the call of Pope Francis, in his encyclical Laudato si, to carry out ecological actions that take care of our Common Home.
Subsequently, he visited the facilities of the Casa Encuentro del Santo Ángel, in the rural neighborhood of El Portal. In this space, training actions are currently underway, workshops for the project for children and young people of the Diocesan Cáritas, “Imagina”, and the project for women “Juntas Avanzamos”.
Finally, Monsignor José Rico visited the Cáritas Diocesana warehouse, where all the work related to the production lines of Casa Común takes place, which also houses the diocesan employment area and is the seat of the training actions provided by the institution . Naturally, he also blessed the facilities of this work center.
From the Diocesan Cáritas we appreciate the visit of Don José and the illusion that he has transmitted with his words to each of the people who carry out their work in the entity.
