The Director General of the “Internal Security Forces”, Major General Imad Othman, confirmed that there are great difficulties for the security establishment amid the financial collapse in Lebanon, indicating that the “security forces” are trying to keep up with all its members and their families as much as possible in terms of medicine.
Othman explained that in the year 2019, the “security forces” allocated about 155 billion pounds for medical treatment, including shelters, medicines, clinics and laboratories, noting that the institution covers about 150,000 beneficiaries throughout Lebanese lands, and added: “At that point in time, the 155 billion lire is equivalent to 100 million dollars. However, with the collapse having taken place, we are no longer able to provide medical assistance to all the beneficiaries of the institution in light of the current medical budget not exceeding £18 billion.
Othman explained that he is diligently trying to mobilize capacities to support the establishment of the “Security Forces” and said, “We have received assistance from some citizens that we are proud of and this year we have managed to secure an amount of 3 million and 140,000 US dollars, considering that we pay between 20 and 20,000 dollars a day and 60,000 dollars for management.
Othman explained that there was a need to reduce expenses, inviting the Lebanese company to help the establishment of the “Security Forces” for its continuity.
