The price of electric cars in Indonesia will be cheaper. This is because the government is currently working on the amount of incentives to be given to consumers of electrified vehicles, ranging from electric cars, to hybrid cars, to electric motorcycles. The subsidy will be granted to buyers of electric cars or electric motorcycles that have plants in Indonesia.
The exact amount is not yet known. However, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita revealed that the government will provide Rs 80 million subsidy for the purchase of electric cars. As for electric cars that already have factories in Indonesia, there are two of them, namely Wuling Air ev and also the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
If the price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with the estimated subsidy is still sold at around Rp. 668 million, then Wuling Air ev will be much cheaper. The cheapest Air Ev is currently sold at IDR 238 million. So if consumers receive a subsidy of IDR 80 million, they only have to pay IDR 158 million.
If you then want to offer the highest variant, thanks to a subsidy of 80 million rupees, consumers only have to pay 231 million rupees. However, Wuling is still reluctant to comment on the government’s subsidy plan.
“We have just heard about it from the media and cannot comment yet as we have not received any official information regarding the plan,” said Dian Asmahani, director of branding and marketing at Wuling Motors Indonesia, when confirmed by detik.com on Thursday ( 15/12/2022).
For your information, the government is currently working on an incentive program to provide subsidies to buyers of electrified vehicles. The amount of the contribution varies according to the type. Buyers of electric cars will receive a subsidy of IDR 80 million, consumers of hybrid cars IDR 40 million, while for electric motorcycles IDR 8 million.
The subsidy is intended to immediately switch people to the use of electrified vehicles. It also “forces” manufacturers to invest by building factories.
“We consider it very important because we learn that Indonesia learns from various countries that are relatively more advanced in the use of electric vehicles, both electric cars and electric motorcycles, for example countries in Europe. Because they are more advanced in the use of cars or motorcycles electric motorcycles because they are The government gives incentives,” explained Agus.
