A famous Bulgarian has died

Their announcement states that we are parting ways with an outstanding professional with many years of hands-on, expert and administrative experience in the field of architecture and management.

Bow. Georgi Stoilov is the author of several historical buildings and architectural-sculptural monuments: the Rila Hotel, the BNR building, the National Air Control Center, a residential complex in Dubna, Russia, the Buzludzha memorials, Beklemeto and the pantheon Gurgulyat.

He was Mayor of Sofia (1967 – 1971), Minister of Architecture and Public Works (1971 – 1973). One of the founders of the Union of Architects in Bulgaria and its long-term president.

President of the International Union of Architects (1985 – 1987). President of the International Academy of Architecture since its foundation in 1987, and honorary president since 2019.

Winner of several prestigious awards, among which: “Honorary Citizen of Sofia” (2004), Order “Stara Planina” – 1st degree, for particularly high merits in architecture (2010).
